  17. <p>     Richard Dreyfuss, Gene Hackman, Glenn Close--the
  18. quintessential "dream cast." But Hispanic performers see a
  19. nightmare in the stars of Death and the Maiden, Broadway's
  20. upcoming play of passion and politics: a work with a Latin
  21. setting, performed by Anglo actors. Director Mike Nichols
  22. promised that Hispanics would be considered as understudies, but
  23. none were hired. HOLA, a Latino artists group, has filed a
  24. complaint with New York City's human-rights commission, even
  25. while applauding the production's one undeniable achievement for
  26. Hispanics--the Broadway debut of the playwright, Chilean
  27. literary grandmaster Ariel Dorfman.
