- <p> Richard Dreyfuss, Gene Hackman, Glenn Close--the
- quintessential "dream cast." But Hispanic performers see a
- nightmare in the stars of Death and the Maiden, Broadway's
- upcoming play of passion and politics: a work with a Latin
- setting, performed by Anglo actors. Director Mike Nichols
- promised that Hispanics would be considered as understudies, but
- none were hired. HOLA, a Latino artists group, has filed a
- complaint with New York City's human-rights commission, even
- while applauding the production's one undeniable achievement for
- Hispanics--the Broadway debut of the playwright, Chilean
- literary grandmaster Ariel Dorfman.
